| AKTION CLUB OF YOLO COUNTY |

| WELCOME TO YOLO COUNTY AKTION CLUB. The YOLO County AKTION CLUB is sponsored by the Woodland Kiwanis Club in cooperation with YOLO Employment Services (Y.E.S.). The club received its charter in December 2002 and was among the earliest in the California - Nevada - Hawaii (CA-NEV-HA) District of Kiwanis International. Within the 10 years since their inception, AKTION CLUB's have grown from 1 club to 370 clubs in seven nations. The YOLO County AKTION CLUB meets monthly in the A.T.P. Annex of Y.E.S. on Harper Street in Woodland with 30 members. The club continues to grow and is active in our community. Kiwanis members attend the meetings to provide Kiwanis leadership and to assist Y.E.S. advisors. AKTION CLUB provides adults with disabilities the opportunity to participate in and contribute to the community. Members are provided the opportunity to demonstrate to the community the dignity and value of citizens living with disabilities while providing service. The YOLO County AKTION CLUB's first service project was their participation in the "Meals on Wheels Walk-a-Thon" where they were the top money raising team, winning a pizza party for their extraordinary efforts. The members also help the Woodland Kiwanis club deliver Meals on Wheels to shut-ins and the Salvation Army at Christmas-time by bell ringing during the Kettle Fund Drive. One of our fund raising events is to collect and recycle cans to provide money for service projects. If you would like to help, take your recycle cans and bottles to the Y.E.S. facility on Harper St. in Woodland and designate the proceeds for the AKTION CLUB. YOLO County AKTION CLUB members have demonstrated through action how they can help make our community better and that serving others is good for all. |
